In sketchbooks, we can do variety of thumbnails to work on different aspects. Such as:
- The thumbnail frame is important because we can imagine the play of size and positioning of our subject, composition and layout.
- Study tones and values within the composition
- Study angles of our subject (eg. there's minimum 9 views of a subject we could try)
- Study depth (mid ground, foreground, background)
- Study light and shadow
- Study emphasis and focus
- Zoom into closer details
- Study texture, expressions and mannerisms etc
